Peninsula Fight School -
Josh Hawley has been practicing and studying Historical European Martial Arts since 2010. After attending regular classes at the Salisbury MEMAG branch for two years Josh was awarded with the position of Assistant Instructor, and later Instructor at this location. He currently is the head instructor and conducts weekly classes for the Peninsula Fight School of MEMAG. Josh has assisted in teaching at several local, regional and national HEMA events, such as: Shortpoint, Longpoint, Octoberfecht, and Fechtschule New York.
He has also participated in numerous demonstrations and lessons at the Salisbury Dogwood Festival, The Chesapeake Celtic Festival, and The Salisbury School. Along with teaching he has volunteered as staff at several events. He has also competed in several open longsword tournaments as well as competed in the Paired Technique Competitions at Shortpoint, Fechtschule New York and Longpoint, where he won first place in each with his partner Betsy Winslow. Josh's enthusiasm, skill, friendly disposition, and natural teaching ability are great assets to MEMAG and the entire HEMA community.
Josh is in charge of the creation and revision of the Messer syllabi used in all MEMAG schools.
